First of all, welcome to Bangkok! Bangkok is the capital city of Thailand, a friendly, hedonistic, historic and cultured country situated in the center of the Indochinese Peninsula. Bangkok is a vibrant, modern city that offers both vigor, regional business connection as well as peaceful, historic Buddhist culture.

Where to stay in Bangkok?

Bangkok is a huge and modern city with almost 1500 square kilometres (579 square miles), split up into 50 districts (which are further split into 169 subdistricts). Visitors who visit Bangkok and consider whether to rent or buy properties will have to be familiarized with what the city has to offer. Who knows you may eventually decide to call this city your “home”!

When considering the right location for you, you should rank out the most important factors are important. These include budget, lifestyle, work place and ease of commute. The common neighborhood would be Sathorn/Silom, Sukhumvit, and Ari.

  • Sathorn/Silom area:
    The busy centre of business district which is surrounded by offices and tall skyscrapers dominating skyline. It is for the workers by day and party goers by night. Hip area to enjoy cafe hopping and friendly restaurants around Sathorn Soi 12 and plenty of choices for bars from wild nightlife to classy bars. To getaway from hectic routine, jogging in Lumpini park, getting a relaxing massage or enjoying recreational shopping the malls such around the neighborhood such as Siam Paragon and Central World are nice options.
  • Sukhumvit area: Ranking among the word’s longest road, Sukhumvit is known for sleepless area. It comes with a variety of commercial centres, offices, restaurants and everything you can think of. The common sub areas include Nana, Phrompong and Thonglor. Nana is famous for its wild nightlife, Phrompong is famous for its glamorous, luxurious spending and Thonglor is known for its hip area for the locals. The BTS skytrain, one of the most convenient transport within Bangkok, tracks the Sukhumvit road. The line stops at major shopping malls, office buildings and residential buildings and offer an alternative, budget-friendly option to avoid traffic.
  • Ari area: For those who seeks for tranquility but still is surrounded by the city’s vibe, Ari is the residential area you are destined to. Plenty of hip cafes/restaurants are located here and are not so expensive. This area is in close proximity to the Rattanakosin or “Old Bangkok” area where the infamous Grand Palace and other renowned temples such as Wat Pho and Wat Arun are located. This is less touristy comparing to Silom/Sathorn and Sukhumvit area. Be sure to check out Chatuchak weekend market and you will find more than 8,000 local vendors with products ranging from clothing to plants to pets.
